Ahead of its elections which are
scheduled to take place at the FIFA
general congress in Zurich on the
29th of May, 2015, FIFA has
confirmed the four candidates that
would be running for the office of
president.
Switzerland’s Sepp Blatter, who has
held the position of FIFA president
since 1998 would go up against
2001 Ballon D’Or winner in
Portugal’s Luis Figo, Jordan’s
Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein who is a
vice president in FIFA and Michael
Van Praag, the chairman of the
Dutch Football Association.
According to FIFA, all the
candidates where screened by an
investigative channel of
independent integrity and were
cleared to contest for the highest
office in world football in line with
the FIFA regulations. The ad-hoc
committee announced the names of
the candidates yesterday as the
race for the FIFA presidency gets
on the way.
